Rutland Water Nature Reserve is one of the most important wildfowl sanctuaries in Britain and covers
about 1000 acres of shoreline, lake and lagoons. There are two visitors centres, nature trails, and bird watching hides. In 2001
the Rutland Osprey Project, which in located on the south shore of the reserve, celebrated the first Osprey chick to fledge in Central England for 150 years.
