Painshill Park.

The Hon. Charles Hamilton designed and created Painshill Park between 1738 and 1773. Created as a romantic landscape Hamilton was in the forefront of the picturesque movement. Following years of neglect the Painshill Park Trust has restored the gardens to their former glory. In recognition of this achievement the Trust was awarded in 1998 the Europa Nostra Medal for the "Exemplary restoration from a state of extreme neglect, of a most important 18th century landscape park and its extraordinary buildings."
