Stowe Landscape
Gardens.
Stowe Landscape Gardens are a part of the Stowe House estate. The house is a late 17th century mansion and the gardens are of English garden design style. The house is now a private school, Stowe School, and is not part of the National Trust property.
Alexander Pope celebrated Stowe in a poem that includes the verse, "Still follow Sense, of ev'ry Art the Soul, Parts answ'ring parts shall slide into a whole, Spontaneous beauties all around advance, Start ev'n from Difficulty, strike from Chance; Nature shall join you, Time shall make it grow A Work to wonder at--perhaps a Stowe".
Stowe Landscape Gardens is a National Trust property with free entry for National Trust members.
