Vindolanda was an important military post on the northern frontier of Roman Britain.
It is a significant archeological site and is now home to some of the Vindolanda Writing Tablets with the remainder
housed in the British Museum. These writing tablets document life in Roman Britain and are the oldest surviving handwritten documents in Britain. To illustrate their
significance they have been named as one of the British Museum's Top Ten British Treasures.
