The International Slavery Museum has three main galleries: Life in West Africa; Enslavement and the Middle Passage, and
Legacies of Slavery.
Life in West Africa highlights African cultural
achievements prior to the transatlantic slave trade,
Enslavement and the Middle Passage shows the horrific
conditions under which the slaves were transported to
the Americas and the plantations where they worked, and
Legacies of Slavery details the fight for freedom and
the effects of racism and discrimination.
