HMS Belfast.

Built in Belfast in 1936 and launched there on St Patrick’s Day 1938 the cruiser was soon to see wartime duty patrolling the northern waters as part of a naval blockade of Germany. Later in the war she provided protection for arctic convoys on route to Russia and played a role in the D-Day landings.

HMS Belfast retired from service in 1963 and was opened to the public in 1971 as part of the Imperial War Museum.
