Mary Arden was Shakespeare's mother.
Mary grew up in this house in Wilmcote about 8 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon.
She inherited the house when her father died in 1556.
On her marriage to John Shakespeare in 1557 she moved to John's house in Henley Street in
Stratford-upon-Avon. Their third child, William, was born in Henley Street in 1564.
