Hill Top.

Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous children's stories at Hill Top. Jemima Puddleduck, Tom Kitten, and Samuel Whiskers were created in this old stone house that provided inspiration for many of her tales.

Potter left her home to the National Trust on the condition that her belongings were left in place. Hill Top is therefore very much as it was when she died in 1943.

Hill Top is a National Trust property with free entry for National Trust members.
