The
archipelago of St Kilda lies 41 miles west of Benbecula in Scotland's Outer Hebrides. It has some of the highest cliffs in Europe supporting large colonies of rare and endangered species of birds. Uninhabited since 1930, the islands bear witness to over 2,000 years of human inhabitance.
