Worcester Cathedral.
"The Cathedral of St. Mary, like Chester and Carlisle,
built of red sandstone patched with a whiter material, has
but a plain exterior, and a mutilated west front destitute
of a portal, yet possesses height, extent, good proportions,
light and beautiful outline, and effect. The Crypt, and Early Norman portions of the
nave and transept were built by St. Wolstan, 1084, on the site of a church built by King Offa in 983."
